In 2024, ILT Vignocchi had the privilege of playing a significant role in the continued revitalization of Glenview’s Central Business District (CBD), an area rich with history and community spirit.
As a bustling hub that serves as the heart of the Village of Glenview, the CBD is home to a diverse mix of local businesses, restaurants, condominiums, and the Depot Metra Train Station. This vibrant center hosts a variety of community events throughout the year, including holiday parades, festivals, and the popular farmers’ markets.
We are proud to be a part of the efforts to enhance the area’s appeal and functionality, ensuring it remains a place where both locals and visitors can enjoy the charm of Glenview.
The vision for the Central Business District’s revitalization is to create a more functional and attractive space for everyone who visits. In alignment with this, ILT Vignocchi has been working alongside local stakeholders to make the area even more inviting, while maintaining its historical character.
Our work focused on landscape maintenance and renovations throughout the district, with a particular emphasis on the pedestrian-friendly walkways and public spaces that make the CBD a hub for community activity.
Our team completed a series of landscape upgrades to enhance the district’s visual appeal, beginning with new plantings in dozens of sidewalk beds. These beds now feature a thoughtfully designed mix of plants that reflect the changing seasons and contribute to a welcoming environment throughout the year. In addition, the mature trees that line the streets received an update with beautiful tree lighting, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere after the sun sets.
One of the standout features of our work in the Central Business District is the seasonal color program we’ve implemented in the over 50 concrete sidewalk planters scattered throughout the area. Each planter is filled with carefully selected seasonal plants that complement the architecture of the district and add pops of color and vibrancy to the urban landscape.
These planters are changed three times a year—spring, summer, and fall—ensuring that the district always looks fresh and inviting. The seasonal plantings are not just visually striking but also strategically designed to thrive in the urban environment, adding a sense of life and warmth to the streetscape as the seasons evolve.
Beyond aesthetics, our work in the Central Business District is all about strengthening the connection between the community and the spaces they share. From the tree lighting that enhances the evening ambiance to the vibrant seasonal plantings that bring a sense of energy to the walkways, these landscape upgrades are designed to create a lasting impression.
